Factors of Climate
OCEAN CURRENTS
What does it control?
What are the effects when it changes?
Can Humans alter this factor or process? If so, how?
- TEMPERATURE 🔺
- The oceans are the conveyor belts of cold and warm water
- Ocean currents influences our climate by moving warm water and precipitation from the equator towards the poles and the cold water from the poles back to the tropical areas.
What are the effects when it changes?
- Living Organisms-habit change and seasonal weather changes by drought or flood conditions.
- Ocean currents have affected our climate in the past because it influences the surface ocean temperature. During the last three decades the ocean surface temperature has risen every year.
Can Humans alter this factor or process? If so, how?
- YES, if humans change the amount of greenhouse gasses this influences temperature and then the ocean and weather patterns
